Building Better Teams

2-day public and In-House event.. Most workplaces say they work in teams, fewer know how to make teams work well. Getting teams to work in well together is a major mission for leaders, no matter what level they’re at. This 2-day toolkit clinic explores the art of working better together in teams. Whether you’re fine-tuning an existing team or starting one from scratch, it covers key design dimensions and tools to form teams, facilitate them to work collaboratively, get commitment to common goals, create cohesion and rethink how your team works together’.  Use our 7 dimensional model to analyse how your team works now and work through key steps, issues and choices critical to forming, renovating and sustaining successful teams.

1-day public and In-House event.. Working as One-Team has become an article of faith in most workplaces but it takes more than faith to get it happening. We know what chaos it causes if teams can’t find a way to row in the same direction together. The silo-mentality that commonly influences the way work is organised creates boundaries and barriers between service units, functions and teams that often result in dysfunction, performance difficulties and poor team culture. Work-as-1-Team is about bridging barriers between teams and unblocking attitudes like isolationism, job-protectionism, competition, blame and self-focus – through applying 5 Work-as-One-Team Practices to strengthen cross-boundary co-operation, learn how to share visions, decisions, workloads and accountability for results and developing new operating principles and behaviours to support working-as-one-team.

2-day Clinic for Leaders… Whether forming a new team or renewing an existing one, this 2-day forum explores key steps and tools leaders need to revitalise how your group works together, build commitment to common goals and challenges, and make the crucial transition to teams that are high-performing, broadly skilled and more self-managing.

1-day Clinic for everyone… Most teams name ‘respect’ among their top 10 values and lack of it as one of their main bugbears. Lack of respect spells havoc at work. It fuels resentments and even resignations, poisons our experience of work, robs us of vitality and feelings of self-worth, kills-off trust, ruins relationships and corrodes productivity. Along with trust, respect is one of the twin currencies of leadership. It’s critical for constructive relationships, great teamwork and inspirational leadership. Our 1-day Respect clinic explores the nature of dis-respect and what you can do to build more positive, respectful workplace climates.

1-day Clinic for everyone… The cost of toxic emotions at work is often invisible but they’re like toxic time bombs. Not only do they foster resentments, resignations and absenteeism, toxic emotions poison our sense of purpose, rob us of resilience and disrupt our focus and flow at work. They leave us stressed, emotionally exhausted or plain frustrated, and they pose a serious health threat – just as if they were real, physical bio-hazards. Even if some level of toxicity is an unavoidable fact of workplace life, those who want to stay healthy need to learn how to handle it better – and contain outbreaks in the first place. And this seminar will show you how… Handling Toxic Emotions at Work is a 1-day interactive seminar on stress-survival skills in hazardous work cultures. It’s an extension to our 2-day Dealing with Difficult Discussions clinic (though that is not a pre-requisite).
